The Scrub Jays are faithful backyard birds. If the peanut are put out, they will come.

HI Nancy - be sure to include your full shooting info - so others can learn from what you are doing also :)

Will let others have their say first :)

The bird is nice and sharp with good feather details. I also like the determination look of the bird on the seeds too. The light source is seem to be from the side here, even though it gives dimension to the bird, but it also left about half of the bird in shadow and details are being hidden in the dark. So with the light source is more behind you (like the sun is behind you and your shadow is pointing toward the subject) would help with the shadow.

    Hi Nancy,

Great detail on the Jay. All I would add, is it possible to create a more natural perch for your Jays and 'hide' the food. Or leave it were it is easily cloned out in post?

I'd personally leave more room around the bird as it feels a bit tight.

With a natural looking perch and detail you have here I'd be seriously jealous!

Looking forward to seeing more of your Jays.

    kind regards.
    Stu.
