Nice side view and good wing position. The crop works for me. Overall I would consider darkening it a bit to give it a bit more punch.

I quite like the composition. The setting is lovely a simple and the grass in the fore ground keeps thing interesting. The bird itself looks well lit and the pose is awesome.

Dave, the owl pops so well from the BG, and what a super flying posture. Couldnt you haver asked him to look at you ever so slightly.

Lovely shot. Great wing position, and nice hint of habitat. I'd be really happy with this one.

Lovely image Dave, excellent detail on the Owl which is nicely seperated from the BG. Like the inclusion of the habitat in your comp. I do however prefer the pose in your previous image which IMHO is more dynamic and suggestive of the Owl on the hunt.

Love the Short Eared Owls. Nice and sharp, placement in the frame looks great.

    Thanks everyone.

I am with you on that one Pieter. I really liked the unusual pose and posture in the first with the various complimentary curves.

The blurred and oof wingtips in the first are a bit of distraction though.

    Hi Dave,
I like this shot as regards sharpness and lighting. Wish she was looking a bit your way though but you can't teach them to do that when you want it . Was this at Boundary Bay? There seems to be a lot of activity with Short-Ears there lately. They have pretty much disappeared for the season over here on the Nanaimo Esturary.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks.

Yes at the foot of 72nd Street. I have seen a few at Brunswick Point but not as often and not as easy as 72nd Street. Also I have not seen any further east on the Bay.

I heard of one out by the Hawk Owl, so I guess they are round and about.

Lots of folks from Victoria coming over.

This shot is in morning but afternoons a month ago were the most predictable.

    Dave
