    Default Young Bald Eagle

Most mornings I walk my dogs outside the boundary of a nature preserve that has an active eagle nest. Today I saw a just-started-flying youngster atop a tree along my path.

    Hi James,

I like this image and the crop. I feel this time, shooting below gives the Eagle power and dominance as we are looking up to it.

Maybe decrease the highlight on the bill?

    Regards.
    Stu.

Largely agree with Stuart's comment. I would suggest though not just decrease the highlight but the overall brightness of the photo by a tad.

I like the perch as well. The greens and the BE above make a powerful image.

Hi James - agree with the above comments - I would try setting a black and white point in PP.
If you dont know how to do this just yell and we can assist.
Think it will add that little bit more ommph that seems to be missing.
    The techs look solid.
    Good show.

Agree about the eagle giving out the feeling of being dominance here, which is nice. Also a nice eye contact from the bird. A little bit of side lighting made the eagle's right shoulder brighter than the left, I might try to tone that down a bit. Also might try to take a bit off the left side and more on the side to turn this into more of a vertical crop (but this is just my personal preference).

Thanks everyone--great feedback and I will try out everyone's suggestions.

Lance, in Aperture there are four sliders under Exposure: Exposure, Recovery, Black Point, and Brightness (along with the autoexposure button). Moving both the Black Point slider and Brightness slider slightly to the right gives the image more oomph (although it darkens the sky a tad). I need to study this more, but is that the general idea?

    Thanks Alex
