Default Brown-Hooded Parrot in the Rain

Here's another image from my Costa Rica workshop with Greg Basco. The Brown-Hooded Parrot was a new species for me this year. Such a beautiful bird; in addition to the colors displayed in this image, they've also got bright red patches under their wings. The raindrops add a lot to this image IMO.

Sure is a wonderful shot Doug, and nice bg with the falling rain. Just curious what the spots on the body are. Rain?

    Doug:
Perhaps this is why they call it the rain forest?

Lovely colors, excellent flash work, pose, sharpness.
    Interesting perch without being overpowering.

Pretty much nailed this one Doug!

Very beautiful image. Bird is tack sharp. Love the BKG with the rain drops. Maybe lighten the eye a little.

Gorgeous shot! The bird is beautiful and you captured every detail, with outstanding color. As already mentioned, the rain drops add a wonderful artistic touch.

I wonder if the image might be improved by lightening it a bit? I hesitate to suggest this since I'm still using an uncalibrated monitor, but viewing the photo both in my browser (Firefox) and PS, it seems a little dark. Applying a bit of S&H in PS seemed to open it up, without washing out the colors.

"Brown-hooded parrot" seems like a misnomer - that's an awful lot of color, almost none of it brown.

    Beautiful image, Doug.
