    Default Ring-billed Gull in flight

Ring-billed Gulls are back along the North side of Lake Ontario in large numbers. Today there were well over 7500. I thought the look of the standing Gull to be interesting as it 'watched' the other Gull landing. It wasn't actually watching it though because the landing gull was coming in from behind it!!

    Alvan:

I like the two main birds, eye chunks, landing pose.

I would prefer not to have the birds right behind the top bird, and think you could go a bit brighter overall.

There ought to be lots of interesting opportunities with that many gulls! Can you say, food fights!

    Cheers

    Randy

Hi Alvan. You caught the approaching bird in perfect position. I like the overall mood of the shot. But I agree with Randy that you could go a little brighter. The image would be stronger without the OOF birds behind the flying gull. A little more DOF would have helped bring the approaching gull into focus; you could have easily gone f/8 and 1/1600 here.
