Barnegat Jetty, several weeks ago. Slightly faster SS might have helped. C&C appreciated.

Excellent detail and exposure, Bill. The right foot has a bit of motion blur and as you mention increasing the SS would have sharpened it up. But I doesn't bother me at all - I feel it makes the image dynamic.

To my eye there is too much at the top - just an expanse of blue, with a few dark blobs that are distracting. I would suggest cropping a bit off the the top and cropping less at the bottom (although it looks like the rock at the bottom is mostly OOF, which might itself be a distraction.) If it were mine, I would also crop a bit more at the right.

These are minor nits - very nice image.

Very nice, Bill. Great detail, color and pose, especially with the raised foot. Slight motion blur is not a problem for me. Nice rock perch as well.

It looks fine to me also.

If mine I mat lighten it a bit, although this has a nice coastal feel to it.

    Very nice image.

Winter plumage of this bird nicely shown with action shown by the lifted foot.
Nice background and the moss on the rock is a nice extra touch of color.
I shot these in SC last week but got nothing as pleasing as this.

Beautiful profile pose on this fella. I like the raised foot, and although having it completely sharp (or even blurrier) would be better it still works. I agree about the amount of space above, but I believe lowering your lens would have made the rock much too dominant (as pointed out by John). Very sharp as posted, and well exposed.

Thank you all for the comments. I do agree that the motion blur on the foot is a detriment. I have another frame in a striding pose that eliminates that problem, but I did like the raised foot, even if blurry. There was a very oof rock in the near foreground just below my crop point, so more space below wasn't in the cards. However, a little more of a pano crop with some off the top might be a good idea. I'm sometimes prone to default to a 3:2 presentation without really looking to see what's best for the image. Thanks for the suggestion.

Bill, I like the sharp details, great exposure, pose and the water looks great. I didn't even notice the foot-so I guess it's not a detriment to me.
