    Default Egret. Keeper or trash?

    Attached Images Attached Images

Taken at Little Estero Lagoon last week during sunset. If I'd have thought I could have raised the tripod and got more of that lovely glow. Just got too **** excited at having these drop in.

My main issue with the image is the leg and foot in motion. Wanted a second opinion on the image.

    kind regards.

Hey Stuart, it is indeed a pretty image and sure it would have been ideal if the foot raise was stopped, without any blur. Rats, it wasn't. Love the composition and lighting. It'd be a keeper for me until the next one.

I really like the composition and the water's colors. Motion blur of the foot is not really troubling me. You might try "recovering" some of the foot by going into photoshop and and under sharpen there is a tab for motion blur. Alternatively, under photoshop, under blur, go to motion blur and blur the image in the opposite direction and recover some of the foot that way. Of course using masks for both instances otherwise you'll blur the other scene's elements.

Nice job, Stuart...that foot is troublesome, though. Do you by any chance have another image with another foot that you could mask in and use free transform to get it into the same position? That's also another option.

Beautiful light on this image - and love the interaction between the two. You caught a special moment!

Thanks Julie. Just feels a step to far for me to add another leg. Don't quite know why as I don't have any problems using ps to remove things!

    Thanks for the help.

    regards.

I had to look at this twice to even see what you were talking about. My eyes went right to the eyes of the birds and the interaction and I honestly didn't see the foot at all. Not a big deal for me in the least. I think it's a fine image, full of color and interest.

Stuart, I like the interaction and that is where my eyes go. It would have been great with perfect foot but does not bother me as much. We were there at the Little Estero few weeks ago with Artie and the light was as spectacular as this. TFS.

A keeper for now then. Thankyou all for the second opinion.

    Indranil,
Which pool do you consider to be the best. Whilst we were at Little Estero there seemed to be 3 distinct pools. 1 nearest the Holiday Inn, another slightly further down the beach and the final but largest further again. I got great images from the final two but didn't find the largest until the final day!

    regards.

I think the reflection on the second pool were the best. I did not spend any time on the first one. Randy and Dan did get some excellent Wood Stork images on the first one.

I agree with Grace. This image is a keeper. Don't worry about the slight movement of the foot. Great light and interaction. Keep it!

I don't see the slight blur on the foot as being enough to not consider it a keeper. My eyes are drawn to other areas of the photo and not to the feet.

It's a shot that I'd have been proud to have taken.

Thanks Albert. The print makes me feel better about the image. Sometimes you need to stop looking to see.

    regards.
