This plains zebra foal was grazing in an open patch in the Kruger Park. It was overcast and raining, and at this moment the late afternoon sun broke through nicely!

    Techs:
    Nikon D300s with 200-400mm VR @ 330mm
    f4.0 @ 1/1000 SS @ ISO-320

Very nice pose here and a clear BG.

Interesting to note the differing stripe colours on the back.

    Always a pleasure to see.

Morkel - this has a real gentle feel to it and a definite cute factor. It would look good in Aimee's room on the wall.

I like the comp but might do a little gardening on the clumps on the lower left.

We aren't really used to these rich colours coming out of Kruger! It almost looks like the zebra could have been in someone's garden on their well kept lawn. Nice clear image, like the DOF and POV.

Nice position in the frame Morkel. Techs look good, nice sharpness as well. Lovely green grass for him/her to be munching on, Well done.

    thanks for the comments folks...
it was REALLY green that summer, lots of rain (which also made finding open patches like this a hard thing)

    Good 'stock' image here Morkel.

Subject stands out well from the background.

Nice point on the stripes Ken. Wonderful look to the grass makes this one stand-out.

    thanks Robert and Russel!

Ken - I have seen many young foals in Kruger with these brownish stripes...probably gets darker when they get older much like a lion cub's spots disappear.
