This is a stocky species with a short neck, short thick bill and buff-brown back. In summer, adults have long neck feathers Its appearance is transformed in flight, when it looks very white due to the colour of the wings.

Awesome image! Great light, pose and techs. Won't mind seeing a bit more room on the sides to keep the 2:3 ratio.

Great light. Love the background colors and smoothness. Pose and sharpness are very good as well of course. Only nits I have are the merging of the bill with its left wing and the rather strong shadow in the left wing. Still definitely a keeper. JR

IMHO the shadow of the head on the wing is one of the strong points of this image.

Good landing posture Chris, and you have nailed the exposure and sharpness. The shadow adds a nice touch, and I like the colourful BG too. Well captured.

Chris, nicely captured, I only wish the bill was a little higher so as not to merge with the wing, but it is still lovely!
