I have no idea where the Egret went, but I originally started this by taking four copies of the Egret, putting them perpendicular to eachother, with bills pointing inward to create to create sort of star pattern. (You can see the warped reminants of the bills in the center.)

Did a combination of rotating selected inversions and overlays and some hue & sat adjustments, and both the sphere and checkerboard type pattern emerged. Added some Pixel Bender oil, and ZigZag filter. Then I desaturated the sphere, and it reminded me a little bit of an Esher drawing, so I decided to go for that look and converted everything to B&W. Put copies of sphere on all four sides to give a mirror type effect, added a blue cooling photo filter.

Brendan, this is certainly a creative re-create! the disk almost has a 3d effect. I really like the color tone and the checkerboard effect. Very nicely done and TFS.

    Brendan,

This has an interesting 3d effect as the globes look as if they tower above the "tile" floor. Very creative use of effects.

Brendan, Very creative! I agree w/ Richard-it looks like globes that tower above a tile floor. Very nice color palette and interesting abstract. Well done.

Brendan, I like your methodology! I totally agree with the 3D comments, and it looks to me like the remnants of the egret's body are columns or stems (?) holding the globes above the tile floor. Very cool!
