Default Bald Eagles - The Attack

Here is another Eagle photo (certainly my passion as it's turning into my biggest gallery rapidly)

The Attack. A pair of Bald Eagles battle for a left over salmon on the Chilkat river in Haines, Alaska

    Nikon d300, 500mm f/4, 1/1250 sec at f 5.6, ISO 400

    Thanks for the critique !

Amazing image Matt. I decided last night actually that I need to get to Chikat sometime soon. This year hopefully. Amazing interaction in this shot, and wonderful rare light for that part of the world.

    Matt:

Tremendous interaction here. DOF quite effective, despite f/stop

The talons on the right bird are great.

Normally I would say it is framed a bit tight, but the interaction is so strong that your attention is drawn to the center.

    Well done,

    Cheers

wow i love your photo, brilliant moment captured. Would have been nice to see the rhs bird's eye clearly, but that doesnt make this any less awesome.

Excellent action, and just love the intensity of the left eagle. Overall, nice and sharp, and I feel the comp is fine as is. Im sure you have a whole series of this fight as you pressed the shutter.

Another wow. Even the background works with the wading birds providing balance to the aerial action.

Tremendous action! If I was to be overly picky I'd like to see a bit more room around the birds and an eye of the right bird, but I suspect you weren't able to shout direction to them. :)

Thanks for all the positive comments.

I wish I was able to get the eyes of the second eagle as well.

That's how I had is scripted, but one of the eagles didn't cooperate.

If I had to find something to critique, it would be that the calmness of the birds in the left foreground clash with the dramatic action of the fighting eagles, hence, having the foreground birds out of the shot would have made it even better for me. Other than that quite stunning action, sharpness. I too am jealous.
