    This is an oldish one. Was going through some images I took in Blair, Washington and found this one I had never processed out of RAW. I was chasing madly after a kingfisher who wouldn't stay still (I never did get him) and happened to look up and saw this guy in a tree over me.

    Canon 30D
    Sigma 100-300mm f/4 @ 300mm
    1/250sec f/10 ISO 320 HH

    S/H and sharpening in CS5

    Today I wouldn't have stopped down so far and would have used a faster SS, but you live and learn :)

    I really like the white BG as it helps emphasize the "flighty" character of ospreys. Composition is nice. Might want to consider getting rid of the small branch on the bottom of the perch as it distracts a little. Maybe a tad more sharpening? Alex

    I agree with Alex's comments. I'd also take a look at sharpening the eye a bit more...it seems softer than the rest of the bird. Nice image overall, Ian - and its always good to look back and be able to see what you are doing differently now, isn't it? Live and learn!
