Whilst we are on a roll, here is a Red Haartebeest, taken in Kruger National Park, on 4th September 2008, in overcast conditions. Unortunately the horizon intersects the horns, which is hopefully not too distracting.

Ken it looks like it's Haartebeest week on BPN This image looks a bit wash out for me but it must be caused by the overcast weather. I do like the eye contact and comp TFS

Light hasn't done you any favours here and the tips of the horns are lost in the sky which is a pity. I like the stance on the animal, he looks strong. Interestingly, they have the same dark stripe patterns on the inside of the ear just like the kongoni does. I'm wondering if you are trying a new way of processing as this image along with the previous cheetahs looks a little over processed which has meant a loss of IQ. Nice to see some antelopes.

    Vivaldo and Hilary,

I seem to be having a return of the conversion to JPEG problems, everything needs additional sharpening and I am suffering from lost detail and weird colours, no ideas why.

I'll try something different next time.

Ear detail interesting. I would agree with the comments above Ken.

Nice comp and eye contact Ken. Good looking animal. Hope you figure out the issue with the jpg conversion. Nice capture.

    Todd,

Thanks for this, I cannot figure it out it seems to be on some images but not others I might just try my old JPEG converter, even if is much more complicated.

late to the party here Ken...hope your jpg conversion is sorted out now?
where in Kruger was this? can't think I ever saw one in Kruger :(

light was certainly not your friend - for my tastes I would just boost midtone contrast here as it seems a bit flat

    Morkel,

You are quite right, I have no idea why I said Kruger it was actually taken in Etosha, rather a long way away
