    Another snowy egret shot. I blurred the background quite a bit in post as it was very distracting (it still might be). I'm not quite sure how much to lighten the image. Too much and the detail in the white feathers is lost (even if it's not technically blown out). Too little and it's the whites look gray.

    Nikon D80
    Nikon 80-200 1:2.8 + 1.4 TC
    ISO 100 f/9.0 1/400 sec
    aperture priority, center weighted metering

    Leroy, I think the Snowy is exposed fine. You could lighten the bg same way you blurred it (without effecting the egret's exposure) For me it seems like the bg is a bit too saturated. I don't really mind the color mix so much.

    i like the repost but it still looks over saturated. nice capture of the snowy.

    Nice pose, hard for me to judge saturation on the laptop, but it may be just Nikon blue.
