Saw this Mandarin duck at the animal park bird pond - amazing looking bird! I had never seen one in person. Their unique features and colorings almost make them look like finely made toys. Added some Topaz clean to try and accentuate that look.

    Brendan,

Beautiful composition, capture and colors. You certainly achieved your goal with the effects as the bird does indeed look toy-like. Well done.

Beautiful composition, Brendan. Love the colors and effect on the water. The reflection looks great... would have love to seen it complete. Nevertheless, excellent work. TFS.

Nice work, Brendan. The colors are just beautiful, and I really like the toy-like look from the topaz. I agree with Indranil that it would have been nice to have the whole reflection; I might also have tried to not cut off the tail. It's a very lovely image though regardless.

Good work with Clean on this one - looks like an expensive decoy! These are really cool birds, glad you got a chance to capture one.

Thanks you guys, appreciate the feedback very much. I agree about the reflection, unfortunately the lower part was just too warped, and I thought it was more of a distraction.

Brendan, the Topaz is a nice look for this duck. I think I'd crop in tighter and eliminate most of the reflection.
