    Default Brown Pelican skimming - Sanibel

    Spotted this bird cruising off my starboard bow.
    Canon 1D mk3, 600mm f4 IS + 1.4x tele [840mm], ISO 400, 1/3200 @ f5.6, full 100% crop [a bit of water added below to loosen the subject a bit, BKG NR slight, bird sharpened with mask, subject distance 40.30metres.
    You US guys may see these all the time in Florida, but for a limey like me, it's exciting.

    Super cool with that wing skimming the lovely green water. Only thing that I'm not crazy about is that the bird's eye is centered horizontally but it kind of works here. Make a big print !

    Thanks Grace. Not sure what you mean about the eye position, can you clarify?

    I've just figured it out myself [doh!]. I could add a bit of RHS canvas, to give the bird somewhere to go, maybe.
