This is one of a series of house sparrows I used to shoot saturday morning at McDonald's while having morning coffee. So common and a pest bird to many, but still a beautiful creature IMO.
The dark bg is the underexposed huge round sign post.....a little puff of wind blowing from behind

1/800, F/7.1, ISO 400, Spot Metered, 400mm, available morning light
    critique comments much appreciated

I agree, House Sparrows are very nice creatures. :)
Nice image and the black bg works well here. I also had an idea to shot these birds with the blurred company sign in the background. Maybe if weather gets warmer :D
I maybe would sharpen a bit more.

I like the pose and details and would give it a bit more space. Why is the BG so dark?

This has to be the best House Sparrow image I have seen, I like the composition and feather detail, dark background is fine with me.

I like this one, Dave-- Unusual and well done. And thanks for getting me hooked on McDonald's coffee in the morning on my day off!

I like everything about this except for the protruding twig cutting through the tail. Good thinking using the back of that sign.
