That pit worked well for you, giving you a super low angle. The BG and colous look great. The rock does not bother me at all, rather it is the light grasses in front of the subject that grab my attention - perhaps a wee bit higher would have given you more separation between those and the bird without sacrificing the low angle feel. You could always remove the higher pieces. I also wish the head wasn't angled away.
Like Daniel, I see the bright debris in front as more distracting than the stone, though I'm not crazy about the stone either. Surgery to remove the glowing debris touching the bird could be successful, provided you have the right tools and skills. Congratulations on the pit; you went the extra 1.62 km to get the low perspective.
