Hi, I am Gloria, both my husband and I are retired and I have been "birding" for about a year now. I can't thank God enough for this hobby and kind of "mission" I have. It's much better than sitting at home watching TV at my age!
I've learned so much, made great friends, exercise and most of all have fallen in love with birds. Any chance I have, I try to go out to the several Refuges that are near by. I've been trying to learn as much as I can, but I still am pretty much a novice, identifying, etc. I have about 4 books by my side, but sometimes my head spins trying to identify a bird.
I will be uploading some photos to share with you.
Gloria, we're looking forward to seeing your work. I, too, feel I got my hobby/passion from God and it has done wonders for my attitude and faith. There's just something about looking at God's world from the lens of a camera to really help you appreciate the tiny wonders of the Universe.
Be sure to stop by the Eager to Learn forum if you have any questions...we'd love to see your work there!
Thank you for the welcome, Julie. I did post a photo there in Eager to Learn. I just started reading some tutorials and am seeing how much I can learn to improve my bird photos. I am amazed at the thread of Head Angles! They mostly all looked the same to me! LOL! Definitely, experience is needed.
Your sentiments are echoed here as well. I feel so lucky when I am out in the field, even if I don't feel as though I got a worthy photo. At least I am out with nature. That is ultimately what it's all about, at least for me.
Welcome to BPN, and we are looking forward to seeing some of your photos.
Hi, Marina! Definitely, I feel as you. Just going out is enough for me. Looking at a pretty photo afterwards, is icing on the cake :-) Tomorrow, I have to be at the Refuge at 6:15 am, because one of the Rangers invited me to a morning bird count. Can't wait!
