    This Long-billed Curlew was one of a flock that were bathing in a pond on the beach. Handheld laying on the ground.

    50D, 100-400 at 360mm

    This is a great photo of my favorite bird! I've only seen a few when I was on vacation in northern California, and it was always poor light. Seemed to be par for the course for July there.

    Morkel, I used the brown line to level, as the water line isn't straight all the way across.

    Super lovely low angle. Great that the water was so calm. Sharpness appears to be great and the droplets of course add a lot. The only thing a bit strange to me is the coloring of the bird. When I have seen them they appeared to be less yellowish. I know it depends on the light (and monitor as well as its calibration) but thought I'd mention it. JR
