My preference is for BIF shots, but being from the UK, I cannot get enough of the fantastic birds when I get the chance. This bird was taking a break, having been constantly nagged by its mate from the nest [] and was not in the least bothered by my attention. This was a full-frame shot, 1D mk3, 600mm + 1.4x tele, ISO 400, 1/800sec @ f9, dist to subject 25.7metres, +0.3EV, small BKG NR. The background was lighter than I would have wished for, but it was a cloudy day, although the shot was taken as the clouds lifted slightly to reveal a blue cast, making it better than pure white or grey. This is my best portrait shot of an Osprey to date and I was very pleased to nail it.
Comments always welcomed.
I like the repost beause it takes the bird off center -- very nice shot -- I like the talons and the detail in both the whites and darker feathers. Very dramatic pose
