Taken a few months ago here in Sydney. This young bird was very keen to get my crickets offering...

Lovely image! Very crisp and rich colors. I've only seen the American Kestrel, but it is among my favorite birds.

Ofer, you nailed that one nicely! How did you keep the crickets in place? Pin their feet to the ground ?

Terrific shot. Lovely bird, great exposure and the sense of motion in that capture is really gripping. Nicely done.

Good hunting pose Ofer, and I like how the talons are prepared for a catch. Nice and sharp for the speed that these guys fly.

My word that is a good shot!
The bird is intent on one thing only - its prey. The wing positions, talon positions and airflow through the feathers are suggesting a high speed but perfectly controlled approach - fantastic!!
HA, BKG and colour are cock-on - I cannot fault this image Ofer - good job!

Thanks for your comments and kind words guys!
Colin, it is not a good idea to pin the crickets to the ground IMO. When they are moving around freely the birds simply can not help themselves....

    Ofer:

    Lovely colors, exposure, sharpness, background.

I would prefer the wings to be full up for this pose, to show off their details, as opposed to pointing at us.
The bird is banking away from us a bit, but the sense of diving on the prey still comes through strongly.

Hope to see more from this series.

    Cheers

    Randy
