    Default Tricolored Heron

This Tricolored Heron was taken at the Little Estero Lake on a cold rainy morning... this was one of the highlight of the SW Florida IPT and we had a blast!

I used multiple layers and blending mode to create a soft bg of the desaturated image. I then used a dry brush to paint over the the heron repeatedly emphasizing specific areas like head and wing patterns. Finally used a layer mask to reveal underlying colors in selected areas. Hope you like it.

Indranil, nice work on this. I like the pencil sketch look with just a hint of color. The pose is interesting, I just wish the neck didn't get lost in the wing.

Nice Indranil, I love the pose and the angled head. It really shows behavior well. I think you achieved the soft look you were aftre w/ the effect. Nicely done. It was a great day!!

Thanks Kerry, appreciate you feedback. I was trying the show the behavior as they bring their wings up making the fish to think of it as a cover to hide under and then goes for the kill with that head angle.

Indranil, makes sense! I can see the action now. Does look like he's all wound up and ready to fire!

Very nice work, Indranil. I like the pose and the soft, painterly look. I might possibly lighten the eye area a little. Well done.
