    Here are some of the steps in processing. I used Topaz Adjust on the base image. I duplicated it and changed it to black and white and masked the flag. Then I flattened it and duplicated it and used OnOne's free version of Photo Tools filter, I think it was called impressionist and lowered opacity a little. I flattened it again and used Pixel Bender on it and lowered opacity and masked back the engraving about 50%. I added a cracked texture only to the marker and embossed it. I added another texture over that, partially masking the marker.

    Here's another version with the Impression filter and no pixel bender or texture. I added a vignette and a little more burning around the edges and a little dodging behind the snow on top of the marker.

    Judy, I vote for #1. Excellent use of the filter. I like the composition and the punch of color from the flag. Nicely done.

    One more vote for #1. I like the texture and selective desaturation; it gives the image a very timeless feel. Well done!
