The Least Grebe (Tachybaptus dominicus), an aquatic bird, is the smallest member of the grebe family. It occurs in the New World from the southwestern United States and Mexico to Chile and Argentina, and also on Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas and the Greater Antilles.

Always great to see a shot of a grebe with its wings out. You sometimes wonder if some of the species fly at all. I think the bird might be able to use just a little more sharpening.
Wonderful detail and clarity Roy! I love the lighting and the soft green color of the water as well. Your choice of aperture really was perfect IMO as the water retains that soft swirling quality while the bird is fairly sharp and well in focus.
I see one or two tiny water drops in front of the bird that I'd clone out as they aren't big enough to really show up as water drops. Everything else looks beautiful to me although I think you could take a tiny bit off the top of the frame if you so desired.
Good one, Roy. I've found any Grebe to be difficult to shoot, much less a Least with wings spread. Good position and detail, lovely background. Purists might prefer just a little head turn toward you; and I might try just a little CCW rotation. Otherwise a terrific capture. I would love this in my files.
