Grebes eat and swallow feathers for their digestion I'm not to totally sure why but I have seen them do it on may occasions.

Weren't we just talking about low shooting angles and Grebes this morning? Like the eye contact, sharpness, and the feather in the bill. Would only wish for a bit more of a profile view of the head. BTW I had no idea they swallowed feathers for digestion.

Yeah! But these birds I've never seen at the place we talked about in breeding plumage.... It amazes me how this bird transforms into this beauty.I'd take this one over the other any day. (Low Angle)

Exposure, sharpness, and of course the low angle and the feather in the bill are fantastic. I am not so sure though about the empty space on the right with the head pointing into the other direction. Maybe try a vertical crop? Congrats, JR

Hi James, That is an amazing eye-colour, thanks for posting the second image, as I have not seen this before, also the information on the digestion. Nice low angle and would also consider a vertical crop as mentioned by Joerg.

Excellent perspective, and I like the light and detail. The feather is a nice touch. If this were mine, I would maybe move him to the right a tad, just to get him off the central position.
