This one has a bit different bg than some of the previous ones, distant mountainside. Feb in Yellowstone, wish I was there now :(
    D300, 400 w/1.4 tc, 1/4000, f4, iso400, man exp. I know, I should have dropped the ss and increased the f stop .
Thanks for looking, comments and critiques appreciated.

    Todd,

Very nice indeed, and a better BG

Will it take a tad more sharpening, and perhaps a slight boost in contrast?

Here is a repsot with a bit more sharpening and slight contrast boost Ken. I use a action for web sharpening so sometimes it needs a bit more. I just added a bit to the op.

    Repost improves further Todd.
Love the wintery setting & BG, even if the rear line intersects the body.

Top class Todd, you captured the scene so well. I like the repost better, nice dark sky adds impact. I have to agree with Harshad, you have taken excellent images of this species TFS

    Todd,

Repost is great, sharpening for web is something I either forget or fail to get a real handle on.

Todd this is a lovely image. One suggestion I would make would be to try a slightly more pano crop taking off a little of the foreground, just above the little bush on the lower rhs as I don't feel that it adds to the image. But even despite that suggestion, I like this a lot and you have kept good detail in the snow. Looks like paw prints running up the left side of the snow and I wonder what animal made them. Excellent.

Hi Todd, I do like your shots of these guys.

Personally I prefer the OP, as overall, it has a more 'authentic and natural feel' looking at the colours & detail. It might take a hint more USM, but I just think the repost is pushed a bit too far, would perhaps see going about 40-50% of the repost if you still have the settings, but only apply it to the coyote.

very nicely captured yet again Todd! why did you want more "f-stop"? isn't it sharp enough at high res?

I think the ideal presentation is somewhere between the OP and repost

Morkel, Not really wanting more f-stop per-say. Just @1/4000 I see where I could trade a bit, tiff is very sharp. Love the 400 2.8, sharpest lens I have ever used, as long as I do my part. Thanks for commenting.
