    I followed this loon for almost one hour and a half with my canoe. But he could stop diving every time i got close. But at the end of the day as the sun went down , he stop diving and let me come closer. I did a few photos and waited for the moment he took flight. The problem; i was not quite ready and too close with my lens extended.
    Here is the result...comments greatly appreciated.

    I like the dynamic pose and eye contact. There is a bit too much wing blur for my taste and I can't see much separation between the dark plumage and the water. I would also tone down the whites a bit more.

    In addition to the above, the eye could use some work as the catchlight is huge, and on my monitor, the most of the whites are well over-exposed. Love the splashing and agree with you that wider would have been better. Later and love, artie

    Like the action and the comp but as Axel mentioned the whites are overpowering.

    I cant help mention that the bird is also going slighty up hill :)
