Temps. in the 50's so finaly got out for a bit. Wish for more sun but it still felt good to get out and shoot.
This Horned Grebe(I think I'm right with the ID???) was at a local beach along with a flock of Eider. It was the only bird that came close enough to shoot , and it is still a pretty big crop(approx.60%).

Looks like you got your ID right. I like the crop you chose for this image. Placing the bird at top left, with the warped reflection along the left is effective. Good pose, HA, and I like this guy sitting in the dip of the water. I do find the image is starting to suffer from the big-ish crop, especially on the face/head. I would also deepen the midtones and blacks a bit more, just for more punch.

agree with what Daniel has suggested. Loved the watercolor feel here.

+1 on Daniel's and Kaustubh's comments. I like the image, but it seems washed-out on my monitor and could really benefit from some contrast boosting. I like the crop - it shows the changing nature of the reflection from realistic (near the bird) to abstract (bottom of the frame).

Nice use of the reflection Joe. The blacks darkened will pop this image.

Thanks all for the comments. I re-processed this one and the blacks did need some help. looks much better. Will post the new one tomorrow.

And I just realized that there are 2 Ls in finally. Oops.

    Hey Joe,
Besides the black tweak....I love the look of the overall image!!! Great job with the positioning and the black tweak will put this over the top!
