Default Eye level at Giants Castle

This Bearded Vulture popped up quite suddenly and by the time I locked on it was quite large in the frame. Nevertheless a different perspective of these wonderful birds. It is a great thrill to see them gliding past as they patroll up and down the valley, even if you miss the shot

    C&C allways welcome.

Liked the stare, crop and the BG. looks like focus is behind the head...but hey, this is an awesome shot considering you did not have much notice.

Hey Pieter, it's really a pity, it looks a bit soft but as Kaustubh said it's still a great shot TFS

Fantastic bird! Nice composition. A shame the head isn't the area of sharpest AF, but still a keeper!

Awesome looking bird, with a fearsome stare! Sweet BG. Yes, too bad about the slightly OOF head, but it's tough to get the focus point where you want it when they sneak up on you. Perhaps a bit more work in PS might get the head sharper?

Great direct eye contact here Pieter, and I like the fanned tail. Yep, we have to make the best of each situation as it arises.

Quite an interesting looking bird. What is the most likely reason the AF is hitting the shoulders and not the head?

Nice incoming shot Pieter. Head mentioned previously, but a keeper none the less. Well done.

It must be an unforgettable moment to have the bearded vulture coming this close and at this angle. If I can get a shot of this amazing bird like this, I won't care about that little tiny bit of softness. Great shot!

Thanks all appreciate your kind comments.

"What is the most likely reason the AF is hitting the shoulders and not the head? " - Chris the AF point was actually at the feet so operator error.
