Default Ray-Flash - for macro and portrait photography - advice please

    Hi guys,
I came across this device which I am sure many of you know already.... http://www.ray-flash.com/rayflash/products.php
    Somehow managed to miss it.
Would love to hear from people who use it for macro photography and people who use it for portrait photography.
Is it as great as it looks?
    Pros and cons?

    Thanks,
    Ofer

I have used the Orbis ( http://www.orbisflash.com/ ) which works on a similar principle but has the benefit of being able to be used off camera too. I have found it good for macro and some portrait applications.

    Hi Ofer--

We used to see the Ray Flash, and customers really liked it for macro.

When the Orbis came out, we switched to it, as it is universal and as Tony said you can use it off camera.

You can also get an arm for it that attaches it securely to your camera.

The Orbis seems more versatile than the Ray Flash and produces the same nice results.

We also have a few videos on the product page to show it in use: Orbis Ring Flash

Looks like it would work really well for macro photography and save a bundle of money compared to the nice but expensive Canon macro flashes.
