    Default Cape Vulture

Cape Vulture taken at Giants Castle, probably one of the more scenic environments for a hide. Enjoyed three days there a while back.

    C&C allways welcome.

nice environmental portrait here Pieter, and nicely exposed.
I would have preferred some more space on the RHS and less on the LHS since the vulture is looking that way

Pieter. what a location...loved that ledge and BG. Seems to be a difficult situation for deciding f-stop. If mine, I'd try sharpening the FG elements a tad. I dont mind the bird looking that way. I agree with Morkel's composition suggestion....not to include the rock on the left and include more emptiness( if it is indeed emptiness) on the right side. 3 days...so I guess you have all sorts of compositions in the bag :-)

I humbly disagree with my fine friends above :) I love the habitat, the rocks and the grasses and would have made the same compositional choice that you did Pieter. I would have however cropped from the bottom and a bit from the top and removed the BLUE cast. Heck, I did!

Thanks for the comment and suggestions Morkel, Kaustubh and Arthur.

Morkel youre right, your comp suggestion would work however my intention with this image was to show the vulture in this magnificent habitat.

" 3 days...so I guess you have all sorts of compositions in the bag :-) "

Kaustubh not so good with the Bearded Vultures (my inexperience ) but there are a lot of other species to photograph around the hide. Agree increased f stop would have improved the sharpness of the habitat. Defenitely will be going back there.

Arthur thanks for taking the time, the repost looks good. Did you adjust in Selective Colour ?

Pieter, your composition is definitely defensible and probably optimal. The rock on which the vulture is standing fits neatly in the frame, and one can just make out the other side of the gorge.

Pieter, I do like the inclusion of the habitat, and moving him to the left just a tad would also look good. Artie sorted the slight cast nicely, and must get myself there one day.
