    Default Painted Great Blue Heron

Found this lovely lady early yesterday waiting on the nest for her mate to return. I used 2 layers of Pixel Bender/Oil Paint, reducing the opacity on the second layer and masked the eye to retain some detail there.

Very lovely painted effect, Maureen! It looks superb. I love the colors and pose. I think the eye could just a little a more detail. Nice work!

Looks great Maureen, and the PB oil works well. Like the pose and comp, and the foilage looks good too. I agree with Christopher regarding trying to get a bit more detail on eye.
    Nicely done!

Really lovely image Maureen. The bright, cheerful colors of the bg make a nice contrast for the muted colors of the heron. I like the way the palm fronds frame the bird and anchor the image. For the eye, you might try darkening the pupil and saturating the iris. Nice one!

Maureen, Nice effect from the filter. I like the colors and the pose. I do wish the bird were angled a bit more towards us but you did a great job w/ the layers and revealing some of the eye.

Maureen, I love the shadow detail and the painterly effect you achieved with PB-Oil. Great job!

Maureen I like the image as is, has a little Audubon-like look to it, very nice effect. I agree with above about the eye, it needs work but this is a keeper.

Very nice use of Pixel Bender. I really like the pose and palm fronds.

    Thank you for the comments

I will work on the eye and see if I can bring out more detail there.

Beautiful composition, Maureen. It does have a bit of Audubon look! Getting the eye details would be nice. TFS.
