Nice Eagle in flight image, Allen. Good details in the underwing and neck whites. Top of head looks a little hot and a slight turn off the head wuold have been nice. Also a nice BG.

Sharp with nice underwing detial. A good job by Peter pointing out the less than ideal head angle.

very nice image. love seeing fine photos with the 7d as well. Have been experimenting with various AF modes. do you remember what you used to capture it as crisply? I do see you used a prime and a monopod. Just tracking an image like this is a skill.

Hi Steve, I just used the center focus point on this shot because there were many branches that could have thrown off a wider autofocus pattern. I also shot some herons in the open with good sharpness using the center focus region employed (9 central points). I had IS turned completely off. Of course I used AI Servo mode and had the limiter switch set to the farthest distance. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you Peter, Artie, and Steve for your comments.

Great sky background and I like the position of the wings.

I like the wing position and the detail on the underwings.
