I like the image. Can you bring a little more "lushness" in the moss on the rock? Try, I think some mid tone contrast or regular contrast.
Very nice. Exposure, sharpness, and color are all top notch. The bird pops off the nice smooth background. The head angle and the catchlight are a plus.
Hi Allen. I think the seaweed covering the rock is jusy fine, and you are correct in that you don't want anything competeing with the subject. Very good even low contrast lighting and detail. There are advantages of either horizontal or vertical formats, and far fewer with square crops. I won't go into why here, but I think a horizontal format , using the rule pf thirds with the subject roughly occupying the left 2/3 of the image would be better. You might need to add canvas on the right, which would be easy with this background. regards~Bill
Just my opinion but I like the squarish comp on this one. Granted the space the bird is looking into is on the minimal side, but if you go to a horizontal composition you are more or less just adding negative space. We all break rules but I try to keep negative space on the lower side.

Like it as presented but maybe just a tad more space at the bottom feels just a little tight.
Good show :)
