This yearling Gnu simply wasn't quick enough to avoid the jaws of this croc.

Marc, you've captured the crocodile very well although I've never noticed them being such a strong colour and I wonder if it has something to do with its age or the time of year? The eye is well shown and the reality of trying to cross the Mara is well depicted without any 'gore', which makes a nice change!![]()
Marc,
Very nice
Colours look similar to those I got a few years ago. Have to agree with Hilary on the absence of "gore" being a blessing.
A strong image. Please can you share the reason for using the CP filter as I am considering getting one but I am not sure.
Thanks,
Ofer
Love those eyes, great colour Marc. Top view worked very well, nice to see both horns TFS![]()
Hi Marc, nice capture, another image with great light.
Using the CP certainly helped reduce the glare and give more clarity, is it a drop in filter? Might suggest a pano crop as an alternative to echo the image content?

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Appreciate the comments everyone.
As this was taken in harsh midday light, and as Steve has indicated Ofer, this drop in CP does help in reducing water glare and has most likely increased the saturation in the greens on the croc.
These drop in filters on the larger primes (from 300 and up) aren't cheap either, around US$300 or so.
Cheers
Marc
Marc do you find that they introduce addition dust into the lens? With smaller lenses where you screw them on it's easy to avoid/reduce dust, but with drop-ins they are within the barrel, WDYT?

Nikon might have a better, just hate introducing another 'element' into the system, especially on the prime lenses. Might think about it for later this year![]()

Very graphic and very powerful. The horns jetting up really add to the image.
Wow!!! One can read so many in this. Great story telling image.
gotta love that eye colour and the horns sticking out of the water...great shot here Marc, natural history at its best.
good use of the CP filter too
Very well done Marc. Tells the life and death struggle well. I like the pano presentation thought that Steve has mentioned.
