Welcome Swallow (pretty sure it is).

Very high iso - A storm came in and there was almost no sunlight.

The picture was very grainy even after noise reduction. I converted it to a B & W image and added a greyish tint to it. To me this looks far better than a color version.

7d, 500mm + 1.4ext, 1/320 @ 5.6, iso 3200. Ev +2/3.

Hi Tom, I like the pose and the head tilt works okay for me too. I definitely noticed the grain as you mention but we can say it adds to overall treated look. Maybe not a world beater image in B&W but would be a keeper for me too.

I don't think this image works in BW, from what it looks like the BG was not sky so I'd leave it in color, the noise is still there and has taken its toll on feather details, IMO ISO 3200 is just too much for 7D, can't handle it, I would try to redo this in better light. TFS

Well just thought I'd play around rather than bin the image - tried a watercolour version that I think looks pretty neat, pencil as well.
