See if you like this one Oscar,
I lighten up the background, gave it more contrast, and sharpened the eye..:)

sweet capture, oscar!!!!! i love that beautiful light. i like what gus did by increasing the brightness, but i would have selected the bird only and just lit it up some more.

full of potential, agree brightening the halo of the bird may work better.
Start with basics in ps and the curves, levels, selections will come very soon as you work

Oscar, Photoshop for Nature Photographers, by Tim Gray and Ellen Anon would really help you.
And fill flash would have made this one better too.

    See you Tuesday!

Great idea Oscar !!! Fabs is correct on this one Fill flash is the key !!! Gus did a great job bringing some detail but the fill light would have taken this over the top !!!

I just started using CS3 and have had great success with the book "Photoshop CS3 Essential Skills" by Galer & Andrews. I had some previous knowledge with Photoshop Elements 5 but this really filled in the holes for me. Plus...it comes with a free DVD to help show you how to master some of the basics and I found that to be a real plus.
