I've always found this species to be skittish, not letting me approach too closely. When I saw a pair shoveling their way up a small channel against the outgoing tide at Brigantine last week, I sat upstream and waited until they came close, apparently oblivious to me (maybe it was my new camo parka?). I took a number of frames, but liked the balletic pose of this one.

Bill, I love the low angle and yes, the pose is very pretty! BG complements the bird very nicely too.

Bill, out here, they do get close at some urband spots but as Arash said, hard to get good angle on them. You got a nice one here....and with a good pose. You've handled the contrast here very well too...I find Shoveller drakes challenging to expose and process. Wishing for a better BG.

Bill lovely colours and nice action captured. Like the eye contact and the way you have captured the bill at just the right depth in the water.
