Peter, I've come back and looked at this several times and I'm just not sure how I feel about it.

I love the dirt pouring over the elephant's back and the way the trunk is curled. I'm not sure that the angle of the elephant is as strong facing slightly away compared to facing slightly towards the viewer.

I like the background detail but the sky looks muddy which may have something to do with the toning you've used.

The bottom line is that I like it, but in that mild way one likes cheddar cheese, not the passionate way one likes Swiss chocolate. (speaking for myself, of course!)

    Peter,

Like Hilary I am not to sure about this.

The amount of dust is great but looks odd given that the trunk is down.

I also think the conversion is overly harsh, but then Etosha is harsh.

the detail and shape of the dust is awesome...also not too sure of the view we have of the ellie, but it does work in a sense for me, just not as strong as the other B&W ellies you have posted from Etosha :)

Peter - great dust cloud but I agree with the others that it does seem as if the trunk should be up in the air or something. Looks like the light was somewhat harsh too, I wonder if a different filter might have a better effect.

I love what you have captured here Peter, just not a fan of the PP in this case.
Really like that great dust arch.

Good detail in the ellie and dust cloud. Agree with the angled away pose not being the strongest of your poses. All in all a nice image. Well done.
