    Hope this is right forum for this, mod please move if elsewhere is more approprite
    Not manipulated, but different.....looks like brush strokes to me

    Amazing what's under those feathers.......even a blurry peek is revealing.
    My wish is that the eye was really sharp, but there is movement everywhere
    400mm, ISO 800, 1/125, f/5.6

    Excellent composition, eye very sharp. As you say, different.

    I have tried this many times at slow shutter speeds with shaking birds, some good and some not. You nailed great here Dave.

    thank you for comments....I have noticed sometimes herons and egrets keep their head almost motionless when doing this.
    Think they try to keep focused vision
