This is my first photo post so I hope I did it right. Doug Brown encouraged me to start doing this and I would appreciate any feedback on how to make my photos better.

I thought that quetzal looked familiar! Welcome Sandy! I'll be interested to see what people have to say about your photo of this magnificent bird. I agree with Robert's suggestion about the pupil.
Well I just never get tired of seeing this species. Having spent a fair bit of time with them myself I know how tough it can be to get a decent shooting angle. Definitely this one is a bit steep. I would also do some work on the "steel eye" look of this image.

It appears that eye problem may have been caused by flash.Would it be possible to use higher ISO to eliminate the need for flash.
Looks like might have been turning head at moment of shutter release so could try burst mode to get a selection of images to choose from.
