Could have got lower but would have ended up looking like the right leg.

Handy to have legs this long when you have to walk around in mud. New place for me and there must have been 40 or so of these Black-Winged Stilts. This was taken at a distance of 25 meters and the crop here is about 65%. Is 25 meters a fair distance for this set up.

    Thanks again Tom

I like the muddy legs...Sun looks like it was very high in the sky, light was not completely in your favour...The whites on the head and shoulders are a bit hot...Good effort Tom TFS

Well let me explain - I set the alarm for 5.00am so I could be on site at 6.00. Decided to sleep another half hour - FATAL!!!. Did not want to waste the morning so went anway - this was taken at 9.27am. Did clip the whites and tried to bring them back in ACR. To get close to these guys was forced to head out onto an area that is covered with trees, this gave me some cover but not the ideal angle of sunlight.

beautiful bird and very interesting habitat with just the right amount of detail. I agree, harsh light, but I wonder if you could use the highlights/shadows tool in photo shop to get detail out of the whites and brighten up the darks?

Nice composition and interesting pose, Tom. Like the muddy legs too. Agree about harsh light, but good capture.

Interesting behavior captured this Sunday - This Black winged stilt couple was spotted sleeping during day time. I love the way they are using their body as a pillow.
