    Default Pied-billed Grebe

After taking almost 30 minutes to quietly and slowly approach this Grebe, it finally settled and became comfortable with my presence. What captured me about this image was the spiral that appears to start at its eye, curves around its neck into its wings, and then explodes into chaos behind the wing feathers.

Great low angle and detail in the bird, well worth the effort!
I also like the "spiral" idea/effect.

Richard, the "S curve" is definitely a strong compositional element and I like this shot a lot. Colors and detail are nice and I love that eye placement. I see a couple of dust bunnies - one just to the left of your © and one just under the lower right part of the reflection. Good use of the flash. I would probably remove one of the catch lights in the eye.
