    I think this one is not as sharp as the first one. From my experience, photographing BIF when the camera is static requires even higher SS.

    Agree with Ofer on the sharpness not being "as sharp as the first one" but it's still pretty sharp. Nice colors and pose.

    I don't have all the facts, that is, I couldn't say whether the speed is 150 km/h or what, but my impression is that a small passerine taking off is a fast-moving object. They explode off the perch. A duck flying by is slow by comparison. The D3S is the right tool to capture that action, but only if one takes full advantage of the high-ISO capability. I wouldn't have walked into that situation at ISO 800 and f5.6, but that's just me. Maybe you had other goals. In any case, keep the good shots coming; as a fellow user of the D3S and the 600 mm lens, I'll be interested in everything you put up here.

    Thanks guys for suggestions and comments apprecaited. I will try shooting at higher on my next outing. I added more sharpening to this image and reposted. it looks sharp to my eye, what do you think?

    Still looks soft. I don't think you can make a soft image look sharp by sharpening. It will just look sharpened. Dumay's image is sharp and I am sure you can see the difference.
