Sadly the magnificent 'ear tuffs' had gone when I photographed this wee chap, very characteristic of the 'red' and far more photogenic compared to the common grey we also have, which is classified as vermin! These are just great characters and very curious once they get used to you.

Unfortunately you have no control in colour/depth in relation to foliage and the FG as this is shot in woods, therefore, I am sure it will be a 'marmite' point.

    Hi Steve,

On an uncalibrated hotel computer screen in Munich I would say the colours look fine. The OOF base does not bother me, but the "virtual" space for the feet and tail looks a bit tight.

I like the BKGR and catchlight.

Where was this taken out of interest? N. England, Scotland, elsewhere?

    Cheers

    Austin

Nice color and I like the background. Like the little bit of food the squirrel is holding.

Steve, would agree with Austin that a bit more virtual space would have been nice. Don't mind the oof foreground as posted and just love the quality of the tones and colours you've captured in the squirrel.

Great colors Steve. Comp/space does not bother me for this portrait. Good an dsharp and well exposed. Well done.

Steve, wonderful pose, the whiskers, and warm colours of subject and BG make this shot for me. Engaging image of an interesting looking animal.

Steve - nicely done. How many peanuts did you give it to pose like that for you? Good color too. Personally I might take a little off the top of the image.

I really like the nut being held and seeing the claws. I would suggest more off the top.

Love the light and BG. I agree a bit off the top would be better.

Agree regarding the crop suggestions as it looks a little unbalanced.

Not surprised that the BG and FFG is blurred given F4

Where did it get the nicely opened Waknut from?

Beauty of a shot Steve. Nice colors and I like the green framing on the bottom.
