This pileated landed near me but caught me a bit off guard. Wish I would have had a tad more time to change shutter speed...but I still liked the look. I was loosing light as sunset was only 20 minutes away.

Love the lines and the expression. The face is nice and sharp and the blur on the wings highlights the movement. I'd bring down the highlights a bit. Great capture!
Wow you nailed the focus on the eye. Though with bird being so compact in the pose it was at first hard to make sense of him.
I could be wrong: But I think the BPN server automatically creates a thumbnail if you upload and link the file to your post, but I think that's for members only.
