A couple Canada pairs nest on a local pond each year. They get fairly used to people so you can get quite close.

Wow, beautiful portrait and the detail is just outstanding! Great BG, I might clone out grass blade behind head, but very nicely done Neil!

That is one gorgeous photograph! We'll be covered up with these little guys in a few months at the conservation area where I work and I'm now inspired to go after them again.

    What a wonderful photo.
I would not change a thing.
I think the grass adds to the photo, I would not remove anything.

I agree with Brendan in this case...the grass behind the head distracts...my eyes keep focusing on that.

Beautiful image Neil, lovely soft light and stunning detail. I would also consider removing the grass blade behind the head.

I was thinking about cloning out the blade of grass but wanted to see what comments I got. I personally think it's an improvement.
My PP skills are limited, but hopefully improving.

    Thanks again for looking.

Super sharp detail Neil. I don't find the blade of grass too distracting; I was immediately drawn to its eye as the focal point, and found I didn't tend to wander off.
