    Default Is Canon Europe Crazy???

    Prices for the new Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM:

    In US the Price is $9,499.00 (€6,994), but the price in Europe is €10,799 ($14,667)!!!


    $5,3K difference!!!

    Prices for the new Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM:

    In Us the price is $11,999 (€8,834), but the price in Europe is €13,549.00 ($18,404)!!!

    $6,4k difference

    The difference is too much!!!

    Is Canon Europe Crazy???

    Humberto, I am not sure if Portugal is the same as the UK but in the UK when a new lens/Camera is announced the pre order price is always mega bucks to lure in the early adopters. Once the lens is released, give it a few weeks and the price starts to fall - same with Cameras. The 7D was pitched at £1800 but within 6 or seven weeks it was down to £1200. I am not saying that it will be as cheap as the USA but you can never go by the early prices.

    Hope you are right, if so, i'll wait and buy the new 500mm...

    Even $9500 in the US is obscene. Most of us don't generate enough income to even come close to justifying it. As long as my current 500 is not dead I am going to keep on making wonderful images with it.
