My personal preference is lighter images, however I created a darker version and wondered if this was better from other people's POV. regards~Bill
I like the darker version. It looks nicer and seems to tone down some of the background noise.
Nice pose, HA and detail on the bird. For my tatse I think the BG in #1 looks a little too blurred. In #2 I think there is too much contrast in the BG. I would selectively darken the bird like you have in #2 and leave the Bg the lighter color with less blurring. I'm not crazy about the rock under the birds tail but don't know how it would look without it.

Please comment on my images; I need all the help I can get![]()
So far darker preferred. About the background; sometimes I blur or apply NR to it strickly for noise, but in this case I used a pretty strong Guassain blur because the background was distracting and busy. It might have been better not doing anything at all (other than NR). regards~Bill
hi Bill - Darker one for my personal tastes - though I do think it is just that - personal Taste.
Looks good at 3200ISO - Sharpness looks good and techs look solid.
Im not overly rapt with the front wing position - but that could just be me (A little lower would have been my preference).
Not that its bad - just stating what I would have looked for if it was my image.
Keep em coming
I like the darker bird and the lighter BG. (I'm difficult, I know!)
Super DOF here...man, that bird is crisp from nose to tail. Nice work, Bill.
I like the darker background and water but prefer the lighter bird, perhaps a merge? The reason is that the lighter photo is a bit too light and the water's highlights look washed out.
